13 Florida cities have been ranked the safest among the largest 200 major cities in the United States in 2022, according to a report by SmartAsset. On the list is Hialeah at No. 37 and Pembroke Pines at No. 86. City of Miami came in at No. 104. (Florida Patch)
A Sunrise Police SWAT officer has been arrested and is facing charges related to child pornography. The accused officer is now on administrative leave without pay. He was also involved in a deadly officer-involved shooting in 2018, but was cleared of any potential charges in that incident. (WSVN)
An investigation is underway after a man was shot dead this weekend in North Miami Beach, according to Miami-Dade authorities. Police said the victim was killed in an apparent robbery by the suspect. The incident happened near North Miami Avenue and NE 167th Street. (WPLG Local 10)
PortMiami has plans to build five Shore Power systems, according to a recent announcement. The new systems will serve Royal Caribbean, Virgin, MSC Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Carnival terminals. The announcement said it will be the «largest shore power system in the world.» (The Next Miami)
Knaus Berry Farm in South Florida remains closed after the owner was recently assaulted and nearly killed. The victim remains in critical condition. The owner’s son has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery, and robbery after allegedly beating his parents in Homestead. (NBC Miami)
